According to a report by The Block, Ethereum developers have released client software for the Holesky and Sepolia testnets in preparation for the upcoming Pectra upgrade, scheduled for April on the mainnet.
Client versions for different consensus and execution layers were released today. Before implementing the upgrade on the mainnet, developers will first deploy the updates on the testnets to ensure that the software operates correctly and does not pose risks to real assets.
The Pectra upgrade will initially be tested on the Holesky testnet on February 24, followed by testing on the Sepolia testnet on March 5. These tests are intended to simulate network environments, analyze performance, ensure compatibility, and address potential issues before the official launch on the mainnet.
Ethereum developers have scheduled a meeting for all core developers on March 6 to finalize the mainnet upgrade date, which is currently projected for April 8, although the timing may change based on the results from the testnets.
