After a period of silence in the bear market, Web3 games have begun to attempt to enter the mainstream gaming field. Immutable, the developer of Ethereum scaling solution Immutable X, announced a collaboration with gaming giant Ubisoft to develop Web3 gaming experiences. Blockchain game Illuvium also announced that it will be listed on the mainstream gaming distribution platform Epic Games Store on November 28.
Immutable and Ubisoft’s Strategic Innovation Lab Collaboration
Immutable announced on Thursday (9th) a collaboration with gaming giant Ubisoft’s Strategic Innovation Lab to develop Web3 gaming experiences. The two parties will combine their expertise to integrate mainstream game development quality with Web3 functionality.
Nicolas Pouard, Deputy General Manager and Blockchain Project Lead of Ubisoft’s Strategic Innovation Lab, pointed out that Immutable’s existing blockchain infrastructure and their experience of integrating decentralized features into games were important driving factors for the collaboration.
James Ferguson, Co-Founder and CEO of Immutable, added that this collaboration represents an important milestone in the Web3 gaming field.
Illuvium to be Listed on Epic Games Store
According to Cointelegraph, the blockchain game “Illuvium” developed by Illuvium Labs will be listed on the Epic Games Store on November 28.
Illuvium is developed using the Unreal Engine 5 and integrated with Immutable X, allowing Illuvium players to enjoy high transaction speeds and mint or trade game assets with 0 gas fees.
The game’s test version on Epic Games will showcase three different game types set in the Illuvium universe, including the open-world exploration game “Illuvium: Overworld,” the auto-battle strategy game “Illuvium: Arena,” and the city-building game “Illuvium: Zero.”
Kieran Warwick, Co-Founder of Illuvium, stated in an interview with Cointelegraph that after the announcement of the upcoming listing on Epic Games Store, the token ILV of Illuvium surged by over 25%. With the cryptocurrency market heating up, the price of ILV has doubled from late October to around $83, up from approximately $38.5.
