On Wednesday, artificial intelligence startup OpenAI announced that it is rolling out an Advanced Voice Mode to all ChatGPT Plus and Team users. This feature makes conversations with ChatGPT more immediate and fluid, and introduces Custom Instructions, Memory functionality, five new voices, and improved accents.
OpenAI stated that Plus or Team users of ChatGPT will receive a notification in the app when they gain access to the Advanced Voice Mode. After testing, iPhone users will be able to use the Advanced Voice Mode following the update of ChatGPT and can choose from five new voices: Maple, Spruce, Sol, Vale, and Arbor, bringing the total number of voices to nine.
OpenAI indicated that the Advanced Voice Mode enhances Custom Instructions (allowing users to personalize how ChatGPT responds), Memory (enabling ChatGPT to remember conversation content for future reference), and improves the speed, fluency, and accent of conversations in certain non-English languages.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman also announced the launch of the Advanced Voice Mode on social media, stating that the rollout will be completed within a week (gradually made available to Plus and Team users over the course of a week)
