According to information shared by blockchain security company PeckShield, Poloniex exchange has been hacked. The hacker address was still receiving assets from the exchange as of 8 minutes ago. Preliminary statistics show that over $63 million in assets have been stolen on the Ethereum chain, and another $49 million on Tron, with a total value of approximately $114 million.
In response, Poloniex officials have announced the suspension of platform wallets for maintenance on the X platform. CEO Sun Yuchen has stated that the exchange is currently investigating the Poloniex hacker incident. Poloniex’s financial situation is sound, and they will fully compensate the affected funds. Sun Yuchen has also issued a statement to the hacker, offering a 5% white hat reward and urging the return of funds within 7 days, or legal action will be taken.
Meanwhile, the hacker has used the stolen cryptocurrency to purchase TRX tokens on the Ethereum and Tron networks, buying a total of 200 million TRX tokens, valued at approximately $22.8 million.
