The digital art department of the auction house Sotheby’s announced the auction of the BitcoinShrooms project by Bitcoin Ordinals on Thursday, with the artwork designed by the anonymous artist Shroomtoshi. This is also Sotheby’s first sale of the Ordinals series.
The BitcoinShrooms series was initially minted online on October 22, with the BitcoinShroom team claiming to be the “first-ever Ordinals series” on the X platform. The series includes over 200 pieces of artwork, paying tribute to the history of Bitcoin.
The auction, which will run from December 6 to December 13, currently offers three pieces for bidding, including two individual mushrooms and a pixelated avocado seed called “BIP39 Seed”. The estimated prices for these three collectibles range from $20,000 to $30,000, with Sotheby’s accepting bids in the form of cryptocurrency.
