Trump NFT Dinner Contemplating the Conflict Between NFT Investments and Beliefs from Holders Perspective

Cryptocurrency investor and developer Ogle shared his experience attending the “Mar-a-Lago Estate” Trump NFT dinner in Palm Beach, Florida, in Blockworks on Tuesday (28th), as well as his thoughts on the investment and participation project code of conduct.

Ogle stated that he is not a fan of Trump, but he spent nearly $20,000 (about 630,000 New Taiwan Dollars) buying Trump NFT, not for the “art” of the NFT, but for “profit opportunities during the bear market”. He wrote:
Ogle eventually made a return on this investment. He bought 200 Trump NFTs, sold only one rare NFT to recoup more than the cost, and received other rewards, including Trump’s new book, tickets to a large dinner event with Trump. Ogle also sold many NFTs to other collectors during the post-release craze.

Ogle stated that he disagrees with Trump’s remarks and most of his decisions as the former U.S. President. The motivation for attending the Trump NFT dinner was more about family emotions and trying to step out of his “elite bubble”.
Ogle attended the dinner with his grandfather and a friend, both of whom are Trump supporters. The dinner became a bridge of intergenerational communication, “where our family bond is more important than our political differences.” He wrote:
Inner conflicts of faith
Although Ogle’s participation in this dinner was seen by some as an intentional political statement, even leading to a decrease in followers on his X platform account, making him uncomfortable for a while, he believes that Trump’s involvement in the NFT field is positive for the industry.
Ogle mentioned that during and after the dinner, his grandfather developed a new curiosity for cryptocurrency and NFTs, even deciding to invest some of his funds in this field when he has the ability, which he believes is “the best proof of this perspective.”
Ogle wrote:
While Ogle is satisfied with the return on investment in buying Trump NFTs, his participation in the project prompted him to deeply reflect on the ethical aspect of such decisions: “Can a person participate in opportunities that conflict with personal beliefs without losing their moral compass, or is participation itself an acknowledgment of those beliefs?”
Although he is not sure if he has found the answer, Ogle stated that Trump indirectly made him face these complex issues.
