The digital art department of the art and luxury auction house Sotheby’s announced on Thursday (7th) the auction of the Bitcoin Ordinals project BitcoinShrooms, designed by the anonymous artist Shroomtoshi. This is also Sotheby’s first sale of the Ordinals series.
The BitcoinShrooms series was initially minted online on October 22, with the BitcoinShroom team claiming to be the “first Ordinals series” in history on the X platform. The series includes over 200 pieces of work, aimed at paying homage to the history of Bitcoin.
The auction, sourced from BitcoinShrooms and Sotheby’s, will run from December 6 to December 13. Currently, three pieces are available for bidding, including two individual mushrooms and a pixelated avocado seed named “BIP39 Seed.” The estimated prices for these three collectibles range from $20,000 to $30,000, and Sotheby’s also accepts bids in the form of cryptocurrency.
