Last week, U.S. President Donald Trump reaffirmed his position in support of cryptocurrency during an interview and denied profiting from it. He stated that crypto assets can maintain resilience during market downturns, are now widely accepted, and emphasized that the U.S. must lead in digital asset innovation.
In an interview with NBC News, Trump remarked:
Trump pointed out that the importance of cryptocurrency cannot be overlooked, highlighting that the scale of its adoption is the driving force behind his support for it. He also criticized the Biden administration for initially cracking down on cryptocurrency, but later softening its stance for political gain.
Denial of Profiting from Cryptocurrency
Host Kristen Welker specifically inquired about Trump’s official meme coin, TRUMP. Welker noted that the price of TRUMP surged significantly when the team announced an invitation for the top 220 holders to attend a dinner, raising questions about whether Trump was benefiting from it.
When addressing this situation, Trump responded that he “has not profited from anything,” emphasizing that his support for cryptocurrency has been consistent since before the election campaign began.
