According to on-chain data, an ancient wallet from the “Satoshi Era” has awakened, transferring Bitcoin that has remained untouched for many years. Information shared by Spot on chain indicates that five ancient Bitcoin mining wallets, suspected to belong to the same individual, have recently moved a total of 250 Bitcoins (approximately $29.6 million) to two new addresses after being dormant for 15.3 years.
Spot on chain states that these wallets acquired 50 Bitcoins each through desktop mining in late April 2010. Recently, there has been an increasing number of early wallets beginning to transfer or even sell their Bitcoin. According to Zombit, a long-dormant ancient whale that held for 14 years sold over 80,000 Bitcoins with the assistance of Galaxy Digital. This week, another ancient whale that had been dormant for 14.5 years also awakened and transferred 135 Bitcoins. The motivations behind these whales choosing to sell at this time continue to draw community attention. Many in the community believe that the decision of these long-term holders to sell may indicate a shift in the early participants’ perception of Bitcoin.
