US President Donald Trump announced on Sunday on his social media platform, Truth Social, that he has nominated economist and former advisor Stephen Miran as the Chairman of the Economic Advisory Committee. The committee will provide the administration with advice on economic policies and strategies.
Miran previously served as a senior economic policy advisor at the Department of the Treasury during Trump’s first term. In a recent episode of “The Bitcoin Layer,” a podcast related to Bitcoin, Miran stated that the United States should focus on supporting innovative policies and expressed this sentiment to the host.
In addition, Trump also announced the appointment of former American football player Bo Hines as the Executive Director of the advisory department “Crypto Committee.” Hines ran as a Republican candidate for the North Carolina House of Representatives in 2022 but lost to Democrat Wiley Nickel.
In early December, Trump appointed David Sacks as the first “Crypto Czar” in the White House, responsible for guiding US policies and regulations in the fields of artificial intelligence and cryptocurrencies.
On Monday, Trump simultaneously announced the appointment of former partner at venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), Sriram Krishnan, as a senior AI policy advisor in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
Krishnan responded to his appointment on the social platform X, saying, “I am honored to serve our country and work closely with David Sacks to ensure America’s continued leadership in the field of AI.”
