Cryptocurrency Enthusiasts Will Influence the US Election?
Former US President Donald Trump recently won an overwhelming victory in the Republican primary with over 50% support, solidifying his path to running for the 2024 US presidential election. However, according to reports, Trump swore during a public speech in New Hampshire on January 17 that if elected, he would absolutely not allow the US federal government to create a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC).

The 60th US presidential election will be held on November 5, 2024. With the growing influence of the cryptocurrency community, presidential candidates in this election may need to address this trend and make policy commitments to show their concern and importance towards this group. Former Chief of Internet Enforcement at the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) John Reed Stark, who has always been opposed to cryptocurrencies, posted on social media that while he believes cryptocurrencies are a Ponzi scheme, due to the increasing size of this group, presidential candidates will have to recruit talents familiar with the field and actively participate in relevant seminars to gain the support of this group. John Reed Stark stated:
“From this perspective, ownership of cryptocurrencies is like a spirit, a way of life, a culture, and a worldview, which could turn cryptocurrency enthusiasts into single-issue voters, greatly influencing the election outcome.”
