According to Bloomberg, former U.S. President Donald Trump expressed support for Bitcoin mining during a meeting with some Bitcoin miners at his Mar-a-Lago estate on Tuesday (11th). Trump, who has recently taken a proactive stance in support of cryptocurrencies ahead of the upcoming November election, reportedly told attendees that he would advocate for miners in the White House, stating that Bitcoin miners help stabilize the energy supply for the grid.
Attendees at Trump’s Palm Beach resort included representatives from Nasdaq-listed Bitcoin mining companies CleanSpark and Riot Platforms, some of whom also released photos with the former president. CleanSpark co-founder S. Matthew Schultz wrote on the X platform that Trump’s support for cryptocurrencies has won him support from many industry leaders, as evidenced by his recent $12 million fundraising event in Silicon Valley, where individuals like Gemini exchange founders Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss attended. Last month, Trump announced that he would accept political donations in the form of cryptocurrency.
Meanwhile, The Block reported at the end of last month, citing sources, that Joe Biden’s re-election campaign team is seeking guidance on digital asset policies from members of the cryptocurrency industry, marking a significant shift in the Biden administration’s attitude towards cryptocurrencies.
