According to a report by CoinDesk, the development team behind the Open Network (TON) blockchain announced on Tuesday at the Ethereum Community Conference (EthCC) in Brussels, Belgium, that they will be launching a new second-layer network based on Polygon technology.
The network, called TON Applications Chain (TAC), is built using Polygon’s Chain Development Kit (CDK). The Polygon CDK is a customizable toolkit that allows developers to create their own layer 2 networks based on Polygon’s zero-knowledge proof technology, as well as the AggLayer, which is used by Polygon to address blockchain fragmentation issues.
In a press release, the TON team stated:
“TAC aims to enable EVM-based decentralized applications to access the TON ecosystem, while also allowing Ethereum developers to create new programs for Telegram users. TAC will significantly enhance the liquidity of the TON ecosystem and accelerate the adoption of DeFi. In addition to DeFi, TAC will also pave the way for a wide range of innovative applications on the TON blockchain, such as gaming and decentralized identity solutions.”
