Despite fostering the flourishing development of ecosystems and contributing significant transaction fee revenue for miners, the issue of Bitcoin script remains a topic of debate within the community. Some Bitcoin maximalists believe that from the perspective of Bitcoin’s original intent, script has always been a “vulnerability” and “spam” for the entire network.
Bitcoin Core developer Luke Dashjr announced today on the X platform that he has fixed this “vulnerability” in the v25.1 update of Bitcoin Knots, a client derived from Bitcoin Core. This means that Ordinals and Brc-20 will be filtered out in the Bitcoin Knots client.
In response, the founder of security company SlowMist, Yu Xian, commented:

Luke Dashjr’s post once again ignited the debate on the legitimacy of script within the community. Considering the increasing economic value of script, Luke Dashjr’s originalism does not seem to easily gain widespread support. Nevertheless, there are still some concerns among a minority that these internal disputes may lead to a fork in the Bitcoin network.
