Former US President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday (12th) the MugShot version of his NFT collection “Trump Digital Trading Cards,” which is issued on the Polygon blockchain and features various styles of Trump images, with each card priced at $99.
Unlike the previous two series, the Trump NFT series offers new physical benefits. According to the description on the latest Trump NFT purchase website, collectors who purchase at least 47 of these NFTs will not only have the opportunity to dine with Trump at Mar-a-Lago but will also receive a limited edition of 2,024 Trump physical collectible cards with different levels of rarity. These cards come with a small piece of fabric from the navy blue suit Trump wore when he was photographed in jail after his arrest in August this year. At that time, he was charged with violating the Georgia RICO Act, accused of attempting to overturn the 2020 presidential election results.
Among these limited physical cards, some come with Trump’s autograph, and there are also 225 cards with “suit and tie” fabric from the same outfit, which only buyers who purchase 100 of this NFT series can obtain.
The concept of linking NFTs with physical collectibles is not new. Last year, some digital fashion start-ups and mainstream fashion brands have combined NFT collections with special shoes or luggage items, such as Louis Vuitton, Dior, and Gucci.
It is still unclear whether Trump’s adoption of this strategy will be successful, but just a few hours after announcing his new physical collectible series, according to NFT Price Floor data, the floor prices of his previous two NFT series have dropped by 30% and 41% respectively.
