NFT project NBA Top Shot issuer Dapper Labs announced on Tuesday that it will collaborate with Disney to launch the NFT platform Disney Pinnacle, where collectors will have the opportunity to buy and trade “digital badges” minted on the Flow blockchain.
Dapper Labs stated in a press release that Disney Pinnacle aims to be a “social-driven collecting experience, bringing the magic of badge collecting into the digital age.” “The platform will bring together characters from Disney’s century-long history, popular characters from Pixar, and heroes and villains from the Star Wars galaxy, all crafted in a unique way to be collectible and tradable digital badges.”
This is not Disney’s first foray into digital consumer products. Earlier this year, the company collaborated with Cryptoys to release a series of limited edition NFT Star Wars digital toys priced at $39.99.
Dapper Labs CEO Roham Gharegozlou stated that the creation of Disney Pinnacle was inspired by lessons learned in recent years. Dapper Labs was once the darling of the Web3 world, thanks to the tremendous success of its NFT card collecting project NBA Top Shot, which saw monthly transactions exceeding $200 million in early 2021.
Gharegozlou stated in the press release that the Disney Pinnacle platform will be launched on the Apple App Store by the end of this year.
